The stunning actress Amandla Stenberg shares her awareness of Black culture and the cultural appropriation of said culture in a video she posted to Youtube. The video points out both the success of Black entertainment and the fact that copiers of said entertainment style includes the cultural markers of Black entertainers, their physical appearance, their hairstyles and dress. Giving the entertainment world, the style of Blackness, without any of the pesky issues of rewarding Black entertainers.

A Matter of Scale 
Listened to this and understood it, the problem is like everything else in America it’s the elitists or to put it a better way those who feel they are above everyone else are truly the problem. So in the reality whites share this problem as much as the blacks, the line of appropriation is just more visible between blacks and the elitists then between the whites and the elitists. Black are not singled out, just easier to see. Quite frankly it’s one of the reasons I doubt I’ll ever return to live in the US. Thanks for this post, hope you can make the distinction between elitism and racism.
